Quilt Retreat

Last week did my first quilt retreat with 5 friends. Missed being home, but had a great time. Hope I can do it again next year.

The 'cottage' (2 story home) we stayed at was on a small lake. When we got up in the morning there would be a mist over the lake that had a beautiful haunting look.

This is what can be seen of the cottage from the road. This is only about 1/3 of the ground floor. A great place for family gatherings. As we got up in the morning, we would sit around and talk for a bit before we got down to sewing. Everyone seemed to be starting new projects so a lot of cutting was going on and nothing was completed. Looking forward to seeing the finished quilts at our monthly meetings.

This is the dining room which has a table big enough for at least 8 people at meal time. 4 of us used this area and we all spread out and filled the space.

A table was set up in the living room that was used by 2 of our group. This is an eight foot table and nothing had to be moved out of the way. This room is very big.

There are also 2 different areas upstairs. On one side where to of our number slept had a room with 2 bunk beds, a bathroom and a room with a pool table. On the other side of the house where 3 of us slept was a spacious apartment. One room had a queen size bed with another bedroom containing 2 bunk beds. A full bath with a washer and dryer in it. A kitchen bigger than mine and a large living room area. I think my house would fit in the upstairs area on that side of the house. There was a balcony overlooking the lake on our side. I could move in there.

The homes are not squashed together as happens on so many lakes here. Most of them are on 5 acre plots.

We stopped at 3 quilt shops and had lunch on our way to the cottage. We spent the next day sewing and then the next day after that we went to 2 more quilt shops and had lunch before coming back and sewing some more. On the last day 3 of us washed our sheets and towels before heading home. The other three stayed a sewed a little more before heading back. Our driver was in a hurry to get back as she was going to Missouri last weekend. A lot of fun in a short amount of time, but as always was glad to get home.
